Who would have imagined a year ago that face masks would have been part of our blog? Certainly, today’s reality has us all concerned about our safety and that of others as we approach new record statistics across the nation. The good news is that the months ahead will hopefully bring widespread vaccinations but in the meantime, masks are here for some time and continue to rely on them as an added layer of safety for us all.
Our global production partner, TAL, was ahead of the curve on the demand for face mask protection, quickly turning its powerful resources to producing protective masks. Due to our long-standing partnership with TAL, we have been able to fully leverage this know-how for our own J.Hilburn labelled masks and they have fast become a go-to for our Clients and their families. Due to the amazing comfort and protective properties, our current face masks are of the latest generation of 3-D protection for the nose and mouth. We are able to offer these masks in various colors and fabrications that have a broad appeal for everyday wear and dare we say, even stylish perhaps.
Just like a piece of tailoring, such as a custom-made suit, the J.Hilburn masks take on a three-dimensional shape that imitates the shape of the face structure the same way a sleeve of a suit would imitate the arm shape, or the front of the suit would curve like a torso. Beyond using similar 3-D construction techniques, these fabrics are embedded with added filtration layers, an anti-microbial finish and a water-repellant finish. These attributes all add to the safety of the face mask which is its main function of course.
Proper coverage of the face is crucial to the function of any mask so the majority of any design decisions were motivated by fit. To ensure the mask contours to the nose, there is a malleable wire support that can be manipulated and molded to comfortably match the bridge of your nose. TAL have used internal avantgarde 3-D technology to understand the best shape to fit a face, finding ideal comfort and contour for the final production. To prevent the mask from being too tight or too loose, there are adjustable elastic ear loop that adapt their length until the mask is snug against the face without pulling on your ears. This helps enormously with all-day comfort which is particularly useful for those of us who need to wear a mask for prolonged hours at a time.
One last thing you may not know about our masks, a portion of the sales of the masks goes towards helping frontline workers fighting the pandemic for the good of us all through the charity Direct Relief. So far the contribution has reached over $35,000, for which we thank all the loyal support of our wonderful customers.
