It All Starts with Colors

I believe that how you look should make you feel good. As a Designer and Creative, my job is to always have you in mind and design collections that make you feel good by looking good. Yes, it is a little bit presumptuous of me, but if I didn’t believe that we can change people’s lives for the better through reinvention and creativity, I would have given up my mission years ago.

This season more than ever, I took this life mission to heart, which I guess is a natural reaction coming off the last few years where all of us have reevaluated our priorities and the things that really hold meaning to us. I believe we are entering a new era of refound strength, focus, and self-belief that is hopeful as we try to be better for ourselves for our loved ones and hopefully slow down our damage to the planet in the process. Self-care has never been so meaningful, and I have begun to firmly believe that taking care of yourself shouldn’t be thought of as indulgent or a one-off moment, but as a necessary part of every day we wake up to.

The Aquatic colors are another part of the collection which I find soothing and soft. The colors I selected are slightly watered down and can be found mélange or woven with white backgrounds helping create this effect of clean freshness. I love the way these colors blend together easily and feel connected to each other, particularly in knits and shirting across new patterns and micro jacquards. These soft tones can work off the new spring blues, adding a touch of sophisticated contrast.

Nature also influences choice in color with sage greens, eucalyptus, and cacti tones of the desert, such as agave and aloe. The verdant palette is a great go-to for spring for clients who want a bit of personality beyond the classic blues, working with natural and chalk white really nicely.

Pink is having a moment, and for me, it directly connects to spring blooms and a new beginning to the season. I love dusty shades of rose and lavender that have almost an aromatic nature and that can add softness to a man’s wardrobe that underlines modern masculinity. I think having a piece or two in pink really adds to a man’s closet, but it can also be a great statement piece for a special event in suiting and sportscoats, such as the Derby or a summer wedding.

Next week in the second part of this series, I will highlight some of the new fabrics and the relaunch of some client favorites to help you get more familiar with the new collection and the inspiration behind it.
