Fall & Winter 2023 Highlights Part 1

The new season at J.Hilburn is underway with updates across all categories from our shirting, suiting, casual, and even formal. The new collection has a strong American influence taking iconic menswear pieces, reinterpreted with American classicism. From the mood of pioneers and prairies to the golden age of New York society, the new collection redefines the modern wardrobe using an American influence in color and style. A sense of heritage blends effortlessly with modernity across every category, the result of our ongoing partnership with some of the best fabric mills in the world.

The energy of a new season is always exciting, with a shift of mood that invites you to welcome the change of weather with style. Having spent the last few weeks in my home in New England, you can certainly begin to see and feel the end of summer, with chilly evenings reminding us that fall is just around the corner here in the Northeast. Every fall season brings a new palette decidedly different, reflecting a warmer feeling of seasonality with the return of inviting browns, caramels, and syrups. Starting in shirting, we have updated customer favorite qualities, including Thomas Mason’s Journey, Non-iron, and our Bamboo blend qualities, to mention a few. We have really worked to ensure exclusive designs in shirting from our global mills, meaning that a particular design or colorway won’t be found anywhere else, to give our clients another level of personalized experience.

Over shirts is part of the shirting set-up that is available in heavier wool blend qualities, designed as a layer to be worn over knits. Like iconic styles, you would see in American outdoor brands. This idea has been around in workwear for ages in bold checks, but by adding this new style to our custom-made line-up, we are now able to offer the custom-made version for clients. I will be raking leaves and running in-town errands stylishly in mine, always finding them so practical during the later cold months as an extra layer for any outdoor time.

In casual pants and directly from the Italian cotton mill Tessuto Di Sondrio, we have several new stretch qualities that I think our clients will love. Starting with a new terry stretch, the knit weave of this fabric resembles the look of denim, creating an incredibly soft hand feel with all-way movement for all-day comfort. Warm Cotton Stretch is back, accompanied by a sumptuous cotton flannel, looking ahead to the colder months. Also, from Sondrio, there is a new tech cotton and nylon stretch that has a clean, modern look as an upgrade to the evergreen 4 way -stretch pant. Lastly, we are introducing a new 4-way stretch quality using the same technology with a slightly more compact and evident weave. There really is an incredible line-up in casual pants this season, adding polish and newness for every budget.

Shirt Jackets, living within our outerwear set-up, have options that include snap or button closure with the added option of a zip front. Front and chest pockets are also an option that is part of the exclusive outerwear styling. These go-to fall styles are back this season with new wools for Reda, which can make great styles that work as an alternative to a sportscoat. We have also updated our tech quilted shirt jacket with the new colors of the season, which always prove to be great fall updates for our clients.

We have put together a selection of fall and winter looks we hope will inspire you and your wardrobe from suiting and formal to casual and off-the-clock time always dressed in custom-made style. Contact your J.Hilburn Personal Stylist to assist you with styling and building your J.Hilburn wardrobe.
