Joining J.Hilburn

With this week starting with celebrating Earth Day, Mother’s Day around the corner, prom conversations at the office, and graduation next, I am reminded that at J.Hilburn we are proudly well beyond just the beautiful clothes we make for our clients and all the occasions they have to show up the very best version of themselves. We are a community of people across the nation who love to do what we do.

We certainly haven’t chosen to do things the easy way, keep things basic, or choose to cut corners in offering the very best quality custom-made men’s clothing at fantastic value and a client experience that we strive to perfect every time we deliver a garment or meet a new client. We are very special within our industry. We aren’t known for being the most widely distributed or perhaps commonly known, but we are well known and loved by our clients for our incredible stylists offering a truly first-class experience with a first-class product. By making one piece at a time, we are doing things opposite to the fast fashion industry and making pieces built specifically for our clients’ sizes, preferences, and options of choice. The results speak for themselves, with clients connected differently to their wardrobes, with clothing built with good taste and inherent quality that lasts well beyond any single season. Working with some of the best mills that share our own philosophy is an enormous advantage, enabling us to bring some of the best fabrics in the world directly to our clients. The fabrics we offer, for the most part, are pure luxury materials such as extra fine, traceable merino wools, silks, linens, and cotton grown under minimum irrigation and processed with minimum transportation that is all part of a fabric production and supply chain designed to help our planet rather than harm it. This intelligent consumption is at the heart of our “slow Fashion” ethos.

It is hard at times to do things this way, and we know that when we bring new stylists on board, they can feel overwhelmed by the challenge after the initial appeal of starting their own business. Unlike other direct sales companies, we train you to become an expert with knowledge and technology to support you. This learning is something that a new stylist needs to opt into and enjoy the journey with some patience and tenacity to keep going. It is quite remarkable to see how, with the right approach, a new stylist can quickly gain a client following and can build quite a significant client list within the first year. The route towards growth is easily mapped out and reached only once a good foundation is created, and usually, the second year is when stylists step into their stride with confidence.

This is the most exciting time for me to see stylists grow into their most confident version of themselves, and they start to truly master their business, enjoying everything about being a J.Hilburn Stylist and part of our thriving community. At this point, the opportunities can open up, and a stylist perhaps starts mulling over the idea of opening either a showroom space or a Stylist Studio of their own. Our community is full of highly successful stylists who all started with just one client and a shirt. It’s where we all started and where the company originally started, and today, we have built 11 categories of custom-made clothing well beyond just a shirt to address every part of a man’s wardrobe from formal and business to weekend and even moments at the gym or at the golf course. Our seasonal collections and our passionate stylist community are poised to dress as many men as we can because we believe every man deserves the J.Hilburn experience. Doesn’t everyone deserve to build their own business as a J.Hilburn stylist, too?
