Performance to Remember

Performance

With the profound changes in all of our lives over the last 7 months, consumer attitude and demand has undoubtedly changed and shifted. In menswear, certain broad trends that we were already seeing prior to the pandemic have been accelerated. Over the last 5-6 years, the evolving workplace has changed from strict corporate dress codes to more relaxed and relevant attire for a modern workplace. Using more casual pieces integrated into a man’s wardrobe was becoming more and more widespread with men’s fashion editors quick to call out the “decline” or in some cases, even the premature “death” of the suit.

I would add that the other aspect of casualization has been the athleisure market with wider offerings in workout gear and living in an era of self care, physical and mental health, people are spending more time pursuing activities outside of the office with the line between work and pleasure becoming more and more blurred.

Lifestyles have been redefined and consequently our attire has changed too with athleisure effects throughout the fashion market.

The use of workout technologies in fabrics has enabled so many advantages to wearing clothes with stretch, cooling, wrinkle-resistance amongst the wide gamma we classify today as “performance” fabric.

The word casual, for most of us in apparel, would mean young, pre-washed look garments, stone-washed jeans and generally a sloppy ensemble of tee-shirts and shorts reserved for Saturdays or vacations.

But casual today encompasses a more put together and generally grown-up look that is appropriate in most situations and reflects a modern approach to dressing.

Not cheap looking or sloppy but, clean- pressed, thoughtfully put together and with an intent to impress just as much as a suit and tie would.

So here we are today, all of the above compounded with us all finding ourselves having to work from home or remotely.

Almost overnight, we have a need for pieces and looks that can work all day.

For screen-time meetings, give comfort for a walk outside with the dog and most all, giving you practical everyday wear preferably with low maintenance that doesn’t need specialty cleaners or daily pressing.

With the launch of our Fall Collection, we have showcased the performance aspect of our fabrics and shown new looks that combine our latest zip-necks, stretch shirting and tech 5-pocket pants worn with desirable, smart sportcoats in knit and lightweight outerwear for easy, throw-on layering.

We have created all of our looks around this assumption and showing true versatility, practicality and comfort across the range with coordinated accessories and unique accent colors scattered across the fabrics.

Don’t forget those sporty styling options J.Hilburn offers too, such as the new Zip-Neck options, our All-Season Vest or comfort waistband on our pants.

All things that help address what you are needing today. Our Personal Stylists  are able to offer our newest collection effortlessly from the comfort of their laptops, working to improve and update your custom-made wardrobe for Fall 2020.
