This week as we really feel the ramp up to the holidays, I want to divert our attention away from warm, cozy knits and presents under the tree to our Resort capsule. This small capsule is directed toward those of us lucky enough to be planning a winter escape to the heat and sun, perhaps to an island, a beach or just a home down south away from the biting cold of the north.
The looks I put together for this capsule collection are actually all based on current fabrics and options that we run in the collection, with cotton interlock knits taking center stage, and also featuring non-iron shirts that were introduced in swatch form earlier in the year. I wanted to highlight these non-iron fabrics in our Resort 2021 looks to give them better visibility. They are really colorful and wearable with Oxford and fine twill weaves. The patterns have a richness in color, with the majority of color ways all working back to navy, making them really favorable next to denim and any best-selling navy pants.
The added value in these shirts is that they also have stretch, which gives the cloth plenty of movement for comfort. When combined with the non-iron characteristics, the stretch quality makes these shirts ideal for travel—they’re supremely comfortable for long car journeys or for all-day WFH sessions sitting at a desk. I styled these shirts casually with shorts and layered over a tee, overshirt style. They also look great when tucked in with a denim, which means they work as easily for the beach as they do for dinner at a restaurant. These non-iron shirts have a truly versatile character with broad appeal, even if you aren’t planning a winter getaway.
Other things to note in this capsule is the relaunch of the Chalk color way in our brushed twill—which will now be available year round after its popular success last summer. We weren’t sure how guys would respond to this tone of off-white, as white pants have been hit-or-miss in our recent history, but our warmed-up Chalk tone has been quite a hit. Personally, I think it looks great combined with the colors of our interlock knits, as it reminds me of sunny, warm days. We’ve also made our incredibly successful 4-way stretch available in our new(-ish) pull-on short from last summer, giving you another reason to build a casual short that works in the gym or by the pool. This fabric was made for performance and its attributes make it an easy choice for this cool new pull-on style.
So whether you’re taking a private jet to a Caribbean destination or planning an afternoon of golf with your buddies on the Gulf coast, our Resort 2021 collection will have you looking and feeling great—just as great on vacation as you look the boardroom.
