The Spring and Summer 2022 collections are very much inspired by sports and the idea of sports clubs. I was thinking of how we all love to get out and about in the sunshine, and hearing frequently about your warm-weather activities and destinations: the golf course, the tennis court, the swimming pool and perhaps the lake or coast for boating and yachting. We all seem to love to get outdoors this time of year, and there is something fresh and optimistic about really enjoying good quality leisure time with friends and family under the bright sunshine of summer.
I think we can all relate to these moments of exercise and outdoor life, and our current collection can cater to all of these occasions. Over the past seasons, we’ve focused our efforts on updates that showcase our more casual product, marrying the comfort required for WFH style with modern fabrics that breathe, keep you cool, and look and feel fresh all day long. The list of polo options alone now includes zip neck styles, tipping and contrast trim, chest monogramming, and a whole series of new and exciting fabrics to choose from in both prints and solids.
This season we are not only adding some exclusive prints and solids from both Ratti and Canclini with tech-stretch compositions that are perfect for the sporty lifestyle, but we are also adding a modal stretch we researched in Asia, which is a favorite quality of avid golfers. This rich, modal fabric is lightweight and buttery soft, with a cloud-like hand feel designed for coolness, and it looks great in rich, bright colors. Modal is a bio-sourced viscose fiber that comes from trees, and when used in a knit combined with elastomer stretch, it becomes a perfect summer weight cloth with all the technical attributes needed for a breathable, lightweight fabric to wear under the sun on the golf course.
With new colors added to our evergreen selection of tech poly knit fabrics, and some new tipping updates, you can now personalize your tennis attire, soccer shirts (perfect for local teams), and workout gear—whether you’re a runner, a weightlifter, or a racquet sport type. I love how unique these styles can look with your own monogramming, rather than the logo of some brand that everyone can wear. Why wouldn’t you want your own initials monogrammed on his chest or on his sleeve, which we can now offer?
Our 4-way stretch and performance fabrics need no introduction for short options this summer, with new colors added earlier in the season. Choose from pull-on and compression-lined options, to Bermuda-style shorts for tucked-in moments on the golf course. It’s fun to watch men’s brands in summer try to push their inventory of short lengths—10″, 8″, 6″, 5″, and so on—with a lot of guys, including me, scratching their heads. What a breeze to simply have your shorts made to suit your height and preference, rather than settling for the off-the-rack sizing and length sameness that caters to sales algorithms over individual fit and style. Our summer cotton stretch is back this season, both in classics and summer brights, ready to be made into great statement pants and shorts if you enjoy wearing some color at the yacht club or the beach.
The sport inspiration has certainly pushed us to find more colors, fabrics, and options for the upcoming season, but of course all of these simply speak to the comfort and style that every guy needs 24/7.
