Starting in suiting, we are highlighting a new quality that we added from Marzotto that we are calling Stretch Texture. It is a wool, silk, and linen blend with stretch in a lightweight “Tropical” weave. Let’s start with the rich blend using extra fine year-round wool as the base and the Tropical weave, known for its breathability and lightness – think of the weave of a Panama hat as the micro construction of the fabric that the eye can barely see. By adding the natural silk, the fabric obtains a luster that is typical of the fiber, and with the linen, you get a subtle “Slub” effect that is a nod to summer and tropical climates. These Italian fabrics are what the menswear market demands this time of year, and when a client asks for linen, these are the types of fabric he intends, as is the menswear standard. Pure linen is rarely used in suiting these days due to its truly traditional old-school look, which is very difficult to maintain due to its natural wrinkle. These modern high-twist fabrics are the standards for summer in Italy, Europe, and Japan. You should get to know these cloths well for the summer season, perfect for summer weddings and other events where staying cool and fresh-looking all day is a must rather than an option. I am particularly in love with the Harvest gold color in this quality that has hints of the sunset and fields of barley. |

In shirting, we added some statement patterns in pure linen from Soktas, whose vertical operation includes minimum environmental impact by growing the crops of linen close to the factory in Turkey, reducing transport and production times. The Madras colorways are quite brilliant, with one full of aquatic tones and the other of fruit tones such as apricot and lime, whilst the stripes we added are bold and nautical that I can imagine going effortlessly from the beach to dinner on a summer’s day. We added some new pinpoint classics for the discerning client and a solid texture dobby with stretch that is a beautiful update to similar best-selling essentials but with an extended palette to include navy and black for social dressing and formal.
Polos have a small update with new patterns in client favorite Performante quality from Canclini, whilst a new casual pant we introduced with a limited group for spring is now extended to the whole field with four colors available. This tech stretch twill is a soft twill pant with micro spun poly and Coolmax technology that is designed to sit alongside our bestselling 4-way stretch. If he loves his 4-way stretch, then he will love this way comfort stretch cousin that has a little more structure due to its woven twill weave. These new pants are designed to take you from the golf course to weekend casual or even be worn under a sportscoat for business casual moments.
